For sale
1991 Mercedes 190E in 199 Blue Black, alpaca grey cloth interior 114,000Miles
I’m selling my beloved 190e due to needing more space (bought a W211 E estate) “Maddy” as she is known to us has been my daily car for nearly 3 years and provided much fun and memories.
I bought her with 75,000 miles and promptly changed the radiator and converted the thermostat housing from plastic to the genuine MB metal replacement before it had the chance to crack.
She has been serviced every 10,000 miles (oil, filters, then at second 10k, plugs, leads, rotor arm and cap) and has been (touch wood) 100% reliable whilst with us.
The body work is pretty clean and tidy for a girl of her age with only a few blemishes but importantly show no serious signs of rust at all!
The interior I’ve just had properly valeted and has come up amazing, whilst the seats have never been soiled getting them shampooed has made them look like new and the bolsters show no sign of wearing thin at all.
The dash board and trim is overall good though standard rear light switch does have a crack leading from it and the gear stick surround has some surface cracks.
She is fitted with an updated radio including USB/Ipod and AUX inputs together with front loading CD player, rear headrests, towbar (though I’ve never used it), electric tilt and slide sun roof, central locking, front and rear electric windows and heated rear screen all of which are in working order.
Both front and rear foot wells have rubber and material floor mats meaning the carpet under neither is pristine, I’d wager they have actually never even seen a shoe!
I have had to do some work to her but nothing was a show stopper, below is a list of the work I’ve done.
Work done:
Replaced radiator, thermostat and converted to metal housing when I bought the car
Serviced every 10,000 miles (oil and filters) every other 10k changed plugs, leads, dizzy cap and rotor arm as well
Replaced auxiliary belt on front of Engine less than 200miles old
Replaced heater blower fan with brand new MB unit
Replaced both Rear springs and dampers with Bilstein OEM parts
Pinion diff seal – done by a local MB specialist (Autoclass Milton Keynes)
Replaced Front flexi couple – Genuine MB part
Genuine Hirschman Ariel – Went to Cornwall on holiday and the narrow lanes claimed it.
Complete exhaust system from manifold to back box (down-pipe, central box, back box)
O/S/R door complete re-spray from parking dent (Range Rover opened door onto car)
I have a new cam cover gasket to fit but haven’t had time too so you’ll get that.
Front tyres are less than 1000 miles old.

Having had the chance to get under neither her on a few occasions I can report there is no rust in sills or around the jacking points, the pictures of the underneath were taken 2 weeks ago.
Purely because the MOT ran out and I as I have the new car already I didn’t see much point in renewing, as such the car is priced to reflect this.
The wheels are the original factory fit for the car, though somewhere in her history someone tried to match the colour to the body with a spray can which sadly means there are flakes in the paint, however the full size spare is matching but is the proper original silver.
Warning triangle, MB tool kit, first aid kit and jack are all present and correct.
Overall she’s a great little car, been well loved and I’ll be sad to see her go, but it’s not fair to just have her sitting there so keen to see her go to someone who will keep her going long into the future which she’s more than capable of.
