For sale is my 1989 Mercedes Benz 2.5 16v ‘Cosworth’.

If you are looking for an all original, unmolested example of this fast appreciating, amazing classic, then turn away. However, if you are looking for a completely unique, one-of-a-kind, show winner – please read on.

I have had many 16v 190e’ over the years but this is by far my favourite. Got a little carried away with this one and its taken me nearly 5 years to get her to this stage but she has had a TOTAL going over. Drives superb – sounds amazing, turns heads where ever you go. Recently got a hankering for a W115 and I am getting on a bit so I think she needs to go to make way for something a little more sedate.

Had massive fun with it this summer. pretty much all done and freshly MOT’d in June and loved every minute since. Been to loads of events and she’s gone down well and received great feedback. Received the #FeatureThis award from Speedhunters and best Mercedes at the German Show to name a few. She was also in Mercedes Enthusiast magazine last year but loafs done since then…

                        Brief spec:

1989 2.5 16v. 48 weber dcoe. Megajolt. Big brakes. Uprated suspension. ABS delete.
                        MOT June 2015
                        TAX Dec 2014
Approx 160K on shell – not that it matters!

FULL rebuild – only components that haven’t had a comprehensive refurbishment or been replaced are the wheel bearings and the gearbox (although the linkages were overhauled and the oil changed…..). Every single other mechanical component is new/as new. Fresh engine rebuild – around 4,000 miles. Diff serviced and modded. Literally too much to list. Receipts for £000’s. All rot shopped out and replaced and fresh paint outside and the engine bay. Underside is very clean – all components new/cleaned and all re-coated in grey under-seal – always gets comments at the MOT station!

central locking/alarm playing silly beggars so disconnected. I’m either driving it, sitting in it or its locked away at home so not too much of a problem for me!
Horn broke – needs a replacement steering switch

                        Award winning, magazine/online featured.

I kept a rough online journal during the build that you can see here: http://mercedes-190.co.uk/topic/6578930/1/
Speedhunters feature here with LOADS of detailed photos: http://www.speedhunters.com/2014/08/carbs-only-diet-a-190e-cosworth-that-barks/

If you wanted one the same (assuming you could find all the bits on it, which I doubt) I don’t see you getting much change from £20k. Just the work to the engine bay and engine would set you back around £10k if you farmed it all out…..let alone the purchase price of a base car and all the other bits…..
